LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Shenandoah University women's basketball team recovered from an early 12-point deficit to defeat Lynchburg 65-52 in an ODAC contest Saturday afternoon.
Shenandoah (16-5, 10-5 ODAC) bounced back from a cold first quarter to outscore Lynchburg (12-10, 8-7) 18-7 in the second and trail by just one, 26-25, at the half.
The visitors shot 55 percent, 17-of-31, over the final 20 minutes to secure the win and give SU the edge in conference standings as tournament seeding nears.
THE RUNDOWN
Shenandoah's defense came up big in the second quarter, holding LYN to just two baskets and three free throws to come within one at the break.Â
Gabby Krystofiak's layup at the 4:36 mark in the third put SU on top for good.Â
The layup was followed by
Sarah Sondrol draining a pair of "3s" to key a 15-2 Shenandoah run.
SU earned a 10-point advantage at the conclusion of the third quarter and a cushion going into the final stanza.Â

Ragan Johnson,
Sierra St. Cyr, and
Olivia Weinel combined for 15 of the Hornets 19 points in the fourth to keep Lynchburg at a distance with
Terese Greene and
Shawnise Campbell each recording a layup.Â
