RALEIGH, N.C. – The Shenandoah University softball team dropped both of its games Saturday at the Triangle Classic hosted by William Peace University.
Shenandoah (0-4) opened with a 6-4 loss to Alma (Michigan) before losing, 4-0, to Methodist University in the nightcap.
Originally scheduled as a two-day event, day two has been cancelled based on the weather forecast for Sunday.
ALMA RECAP
Shenandoah scored four runs in the top of the third only to see Alma (3-4) rally with two in the third, one in the fourth and three more in the sixth.
Megan Scalley (0-2) was the tough luck loser as she allowed just three hits and struck out four. Five of Alma's six runs were unearned.
Danielle McNeill drove in a pair of runs on a double in the third. Eight of the nine Hornets starters hit safely in the contest.
METHODIST RECAP
Shenandoah again outhit its opponent, getting nine hits to the Monarchs seven, but one MU run in the first and three more in the sixth gave the Monarchs the victory.
Savannah Thorne and
Tiffany Bower both had two hits in the loss, as did pitcher
Hannah Maltos.
Maltos (0-2) allowed the four runs (three earned) on seven hits and one walk. She also struck out five.
UP NEXT
Shenandoah is back in action Saturday in 1 p.m. non-league home doubleheader versus Southern Virginia.
