Softball Posts Six All-ODAC Honors

FOREST, Va. - The Shenandoah University softball team earned six All-ODAC awards, the most since joining the league, in selections announced by the conference on Thursday morning.

Brenna Westwood and Cadence Reig made the first team, Paige Eagleton and Makayla Cox earned second team honors, and Allison McQueeney and Gracie Ravenkamp round out the Hornets' honorees on the third team.

Westwood led the Hornets with a .431 batting average in conference play. She acquired 28 hits, all of which were singles, and added 13 RBI. Defensively, she had a .966 fielding percentage. The infielder had eight ODAC games with at least two hits.

Rieg earned first-team honors as a utility player for the Hornets. At the plate, the sophomore hit .429 and had 27 hits. Of her 27 hits, 11 of them went for extra bases, including nine doubles. She helped drive in 18 runs in her 20 conference contests. In the circle the utility player pitched just under 30 innings and had a 4-2 ODAC record.

Eagleton, a senior, led the team with three home runs in ODAC competition. She had 16 total hits in those games, with a .320 average. She came around to score 16 runs, while also having 15 RBI in 18 conference games.

Cox, the primary leftfielder for SU, hit an even .400 in conference, posted 26 hits, and had 18 RBI, tying for the team-high. Her OBS in conference was .945. In the outfield she delivered one assist and had a fielding percentage of .972.

McQueeney holds the program record for steals in a career and in a season as a junior. The outfielder hit .344 in the ODAC this year, with 21 hits. She averages one stolen base per game, with 20 stolen bases in 20 ODAC games. 

Ravenkamp, a first-year pitcher, had a 3.39 ERA in ODAC play in her rookie season. She pitched 53.2 innings, had six complete games, and had a 5-3 conference record. She threw a team-high 17 strikeouts and posted one shutout.

The Hornets earned 30 wins for the first time since 2011 and currently wait to see if they'll earn an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament. The selection show for the tournament is on Monday at 11 a.m.
