Schannauer breaks school outdoor men's shot put record

LEXINGTON, Va. – The Shenandoah University outdoor track & field teams continued their outdoor regular season schedule Friday at the Washington & Lee Track & Field Carnival.

Shenandoah took first in three field events: the women's high jump, women's javelin, and men's shot put.

Brooke Sandy, a first year jumper and Winchester native, placed first in the women's high jump with 1.06 meter jump.

First year Katya Hoover's javelin throw of 32.31 meters was the furthest in the field of 26 women.

Wyatt Schannauer's toss of 14.27 meters broke the outdoor men's shot put school record and placed him first in a field of 29 throwers.  The senior from Sinking Springs, Pennsylvania also owns the indoor record in the same event.

Tucker Kindig placed fourth with his mark coming in at 13.91 meters.

Jessica Rendfrey rounded out the day for the women by placing sixth in the javelin and eighth in the shot put with 29.39 and 10.93 meter throws, respectively.

Individually, the two teams combined for 17 personal bests in just 14 events on Friday evening with the 10,000 meter race wrapping up just before 9 p.m. and javelin results posted at 9:30 p.m.
