Hornets Compete at Widener Final Qualifier

CHESTER, Pa. - After over two weeks since their last competition, the Shenandoah University track and field teams returned for the Widener Final Qualifier on Monday afternoon.

During the final qualifier, Makenna Thrush broke the school's record for the women's 1,500m for the second time this season, which is also the fourth record overall the Harrisburg, Pennsylvania native has broken in 2025.

Thrush, who broke the 1,500m record initially back in late March, beat her time by 1.18 seconds for a time of 4:43.46 in today's meet.

Grace Semow set a PR in the women's 800m with a mark of 2:21.68, while Amy Oleksy ran a 2:23.46 in the same event. Semow's time puts her third all-time in the SU record books.

In the women's javelin, Mackenzie Plowman had the best placement of any Hornet today in any event, placing sixth with a throw of 33.18m, which is a PR and the fifth best mark ever for the SU women.

In the women's 400m, Alexis Hubbard narrowly missed out on a PR with a time of 1:01.95. Janelle Anderson ran two events on Monday, first running a 13.09 in the 100m and followed that up with a 27.92 in the 200m.

On the men's side, Brayden Shotwell clocked in at 15:32.17 in the 5,000m, which gives him fourth all-time for the program. Wyatt Newcome ran in the 400m for the first time in his career and completed the race in 52.26 seconds.

Rounding out the performances for the Hornets, Nathan Lee crossed the finish line at 2:00.09 in the men's 800m.
