FERRUM, Va. – The Shenandoah University men's tennis team snapped a four-match losing streak Saturday with a 7-1 ODAC victory at Ferrum.
Shenandoah (3-9, 2-5 ODAC) swept the three doubles matches before earning the win over the Panthers (2-12, 0-8) with four wins in the five completed singles matches.
IN BRIEF
Gene Perle-Jones, playing No. 2 singles, had the match-clinching victory. He was a 6-1, 6-1 winner at that spot to give SU the fifth team point.
Lance Dupuis put Perle-Jones in position to clinch with a 6-3, 6-1 victory at No. 3.
Aiden Steinly won in three sets at No. 4 while
Brenton Baugh was an 8-2 winner at No. 5 in a match played following the team decision.
SU won 8-3, 8-1, and 8-3 in the three doubles matches. Perle-Jones, Dupuis and Steinly were all double winners for the Hornets.
The match at No. 1 singles was abandoned in the second set because of the weather.
