HIGH POINT, N.C. – No. 20/25 Shenandoah University continues its run at the 2022 ODAC Baseball Championships this afternoon in a 2:30 p.m. winner's bracket contest versus sixth-seeded Roanoke.

The 2:30 p.m. game time is subject to the finish of the early game. Rainy weather is running through the North Carolina piedmont, and so the start of play on day two is delayed.
Shenandoah (32-10-1) downed Bridgewater, 9-3, Friday afternoon in the second game of the tournament. Roanoke (25-14) opened the tournament by upsetting top-seeded Lynchburg, 15-3, in Friday's opening game.

The Maroons banged out 24 hits versus Lynchburg while getting a complete game performance from Caleb Lingenfelter. Lingenfelter (2-1) struck out eight and allowed the three runs on seven hits and one walk.

All nine hitters in the Roanoke lineup hit safely in the game with seven posting three hits each.

Shenandoah had 11 hits in its win over BC with first baseman
Pearce Bucher leading the way with a 3-for-5 afternoon that included four runs batted in.

Jacob Faivre and
Tad Dean combined for the win with Faivre (8-1) striking out seven in six innings of work and Dean recording the final nine outs to earn his fifth save of the spring.

This afternoon's match-up is the 25
th between SU and Roanoke in history with the Hornets winning 14 of the previous 24 meetings.

Roanoke swept SU in the regular season, winning 11-5 and 12-2 in pair of games played Apr. 2 in Winchester. The Maroons had a combined 28 hits in that doubleheader, including 20 in the game one win.

In ODAC Tournament play, Shenandoah is 3-0 versus RC, winning 4-2 in the 2017 tournament, 8-4 in 2018, and 11-0 in 2019.

The winner of today's game advances to Sunday's 10 a.m. championship game while the loser has a 4 p.m. elimination contest this afternoon.
