WINCHESTER, Va. - Visiting Ferrum College earned its second ODAC wrestling dual match victory of the season Saturday night with a 42-7 win over host Shenandoah.
The Panthers (4-8, 2-2 ODAC) won six of the eight contested matches in earning the victory over Shenandoah (2-6, 0-4).
IN BRIEF
Starting the match at 165, the two teams split the opening two bouts with each winning by major decision. Joseph Olalde won the opener for the visitors, winning 14-2 over Jalen Cornelius, with Dylan Weaver answering right back for SU with a 12-0 win over Michael Oliver at 174.
Ferrum then seized control of the match with a fall at 184, an injury default victory at 197 and a forfeit win at 285.
After another FC win at 125, this one a technical fall, Sean Rinebolt earned the Hornets second win in the most exciting match of the evening.
Rinebolt defeated Trent Proctor, 7-6, holding Proctor off from his furious attempt at a takedown in the final minute of the match. Tied 4-4 after one, Rinebolt had a takedown in the second and an escape in the third (after choosing down) to lead 7-5 with Proctor holding the riding time point. After Proctor was unable to successfully complete the takedown in the final period, Rinebolt emerged with the one-point win.
Ferrum completed the night with a forfeit at 141 followed by a decision at 149 and a fall at 157.
