LEXINGTON, Va. - The Shenandoah University men's and women's indoor track & field teams posted one win Friday on day one of the VMI Winter Classic.
Graduate student Tucker Kindig had that victory, posting a weight throw toss of 18.19 meters to win the 45-man competition.
MEN'S RECAP
Kindig was more than a meter better than his closest competitor and more than five meters clear of the next DIII student-athlete.
William Crowder and Miles Moore were 14th and 15th, respectively, in the 60 meters with both posting a 6.97 seconds in the preliminary round.
Elias McGhie had the remaining top finish with a fifth place showing in the 500 meters.
WOMEN'S RECAP
The women had three top 10 finishes Friday on the opening day of competition.
Kiara Felston, the current ODAC Field Athlete of the Week, was sixth in the weight at 15.94 meters. Felston was the highest DIII finisher in the event and bested 16 Division I athletes.
Mackenzie Plowman and Emma Madrigal went 7-8 in the 500 meters and like Felston, had the top finish amongst DIII competition. Plowman posted a 1:26.43 and Madrigal a 1:28.41.
