WINCHESTER, Va. – Shenandoah University women's basketball team scored with 11 different players in its 49-32 home ODAC win over Hollins University Saturday afternoon at the James R. Wilkins, Jr. Athletics & Events Center.

The Hornets (12-7, 8-5 ODAC) held Hollins (1-15, 0-13) to seven field goals in the 40 minutes of play. HU was held to a combined two field goals in the first, second, and fourth periods.

Shenandoah scored first and remained in possession of the lead for the entirety of the game. They held the 20-9 lead heading into the first media timeout of the second quarter.

In that second frame Hollins made their first basket but failed to make another one, ending the half 0 for 11 from the field.

Shenandoah had nine different players with points heading into the break,
Terese Greene had seven and
Madisen Kimble tallied five. Greene would lead all players with 16 total points.

Hollins opened the second half on a 6-2 run but that ended quickly as the Hornets held them scoreless for the final 3:02 of the quarter, heading to the fourth with a 39-24 lead.

Shenandoah held Hollins to only free throws for the remainder of the game, with the visitors missing all 10 attempts from the field in the fourth.

The Hornets out-rebounded Hollins, 51-37, including 15-6 on the offensive side of the court.Â

Hollins scored over half their points from the charity stripe, shooting 62% (18 for 29).

SU's defensive forced 23 turnovers giving them a plus seven in that category.Â

GAME NOTE
Prior to tip-off both teams were joined by the Area 13 Special Olympics Bulldogs basketball team. The Bulldogs took part in the starting line-up tunnels and national anthem.Â

The Bulldogs got to take part in a scrimmage as well during halftime of the game.
