GREENSBORO, N.C. – Host Guilford College pulled away in the second half from Shenandoah University Saturday in a 69-58 ODAC women's basketball victory.
Shenandoah (8-5, 4-3 ODAC), which was without two starters for the second straight game, saw Guilford (12-3, 5-3) outscore SU by 19 points over the final 20 minutes to earn the 11-point win.

The Hornets held a 32-24 halftime lead on the strength of a 22-point second quarter, but it was not enough as GC put up 23 points in the third and 22 in the fourth to hold SU off.

Melissa Smeltzer-Kraft's club held a 37-30 lead with 7:18 remaining in the third following a pair of
Zoe Star free throws only to see its hosts score the next nine points of the game to lead 39-37 with 5:11 left.
The two teams stayed within a possession of one another for the next three minutes until a 5-0 Guilford spurt gave the Quakers a 47-43 lead by the two-minute mark. Two
Shawnise Campbell layups in the paint knotted the contest at 47-47 as the fourth quarter dawned.
The two teams were scoreless for the initial 2:30 of the final stanza before Guilford took the lead for good on a pair of free throws at 7:29. These two from the charity stripe kickstarted a 10-3 Guilford run that gave the hosts a 57-50 led with 4:14 remaining.
Maggie Rooklin briefly stopped the Quakers offense with a layup at 3:58 only to see GC score five straight again to push the lead into double digits, 62-52, for the first time.
Shenandoah would get no closer than eight points over the final 3:13.
Campbell led the Hornets with 20 points while Rooklin added 12.
SU shot 34 percent (23 of 67) with Guilford shooting 41 percent (27 of 66). The Hornets had a 51-34 edge on the glass.
