No. 11 Randolph-Macon Defeats Football

ASHLAND, Va. - The Shenandoah University football team was defeated by No. 11 Randolph-Macon College in an ODAC game on Saturday afternoon.

The Yellow Jackets (7-0, 4-0 ODAC) rushed for 290 yards and scored 28 points in the first half in their 48-13 win over the Hornets (4-3, 2-2 ODAC).

IN BRIEF
RMC had five rushing touchdowns in the game including one on their opening possession on a two-yard rush, capping off the 75-yard drive. Their defense held Shenandoah to a three-and-out on the next drive. That opening Hornets drive would be the only time SU had the ball in the first 15 minutes.

The home team added a touchdown with under a minute remaining and automatically received the ball back by forcing a fumble on the kickoff return.

Steven Hugney added a Shenandoah touchdown by using his legs to cut the deficit. Randolph-Macon didn't let that affect its momentum as they added more points to end the half. RMC led 28-6 at the half.

The Hornets put together a good drive in the third driving down all the way to the RMC 14 yardline but the Yellow Jackets would stop the Hornets on a fourth down and get the ball back. Hugney had 54 passing yards on the drive connecting with four different receivers.

SU got back in the score column in the fourth quarter as Hugney delivered through the air finding Andre Jackson for a 50-yard touchdown. Myles Miller set up the play after connecting with his quarterback for a gain of 36. The touchdown proved to come to late as RMC had pulled to far ahead, adding two more scores in the final quarter.

Hugney passed for 249 yards during the game. Jackson led the Hornets with five catches for 89 yards.

Shenandoah was led on defense by Liban Farah as he had 11 solo tackles, one tackle for loss and added a pass breakup.
