CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – The Shenandoah University women's basketball was back on the court Thursday evening with a non-conference game against Wilson College. The Hornets (8-2, 5-0) left with the 75-50 win over the Phoenix (2-6, 1-2). The Hornets were led offensively by
Shawnise Campbell with 14 points on 6-9 shooting, with five rebounds, and five blocks in only 14 minutes of work.
Terese Greene chipped in with 11 points going 5-9 from the field including 1-4 from deep.
Emily Williams just missed out on back-to-back games with a double-double with eight points on 4-7 shooting and picking up nine rebounds in the contest. Every Hornet got into the game and contributed with at least one rebound, and as a team, the Hornets outrebounded the Phoenix 57-43.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hornets took the lead three seconds into the game when
Shawnise Campbell split a pair of free throws to start the game. Campbell would then go on to score the next four points, before
Terese Greene would make a pair of jumpers, along with an
Emily Williams jumper to give the Hornets an 11-0 lead with 7:38 left in the quarter. Shenandoah would hold Wilson scoreless for the first three and half minutes of the game.
Zoe Smith,
Zoe Star,
Jessica Littlejohn, and
Kayla Maxson would all make their first shots of the game to push the lead 19-8.
Terese Greene would add another layup for the Hornets as Shenandoah would take a 21-16 lead into the second quarter.
Maddie Kimble would drill a three for her first basket of the game early in the second as the Hornet lead continued to grow.

:40 mark gave the Hornets their biggest lead of the game of 15 points with the score 31-16.
Lydia Pedersen,
Gabby Krystofiak, and
Maggie Rooklin all picked up their first points in the game as the lead continued to grow before the half.
Emily Williams would score the final basket of the half and Shenandoah took a comfortable 24-point lead into the break.
The Hornets continued to dominate inside the paint scoring 52 of their 70 points in the paint, as the Phoenix did not have an answer for the Hornets size and strength. Shenandoah bullied Wilson down low all game. Maxson and Littlejohn scored the final seven points of the quarter, before
Reagan Smith knocked down a pair of free throws from the charity stripe with six seconds remaining in the frame.
The fourth quarter was the only quarter in which Wilson outscored Shenandoah, but
Madison Clay was able to enter the game and score six points on 3-4 shooting.
Kiersten Hostetter and
Brynna Nesselrodt each chipped in with two points in the quarter, with
Reagan Smith picking up the other basket for the Hornets.

The Hornets will take a break from game action until they are back on the court on December 30
th with a non-conference matchup with Goucher with tipoff scheduled for 1 pm.
