WINCHESTER, Va. – Visiting Bridgewater College rallied for a 63-59 ODAC men's basketball victory over Shenandoah University Wednesday evening at the James R. Wilkins, Jr. Athletics & Events Center.
Shenandoah (6-18, 3-12 ODAC) held a 36-30 halftime lead, but suffered through a cold second half shooting performance as Bridgewater (13-11, 8-7) rallied for the win.
IN BRIEF
Despite shooting just 23 percent (7 for 30) in the second half, the Hornets led, 58-57, after
Kendrick Robinson drained a pair of free throws with 55 seconds remaining.
BC answered back though with an Alec Topper 10-foot baseline jumper at the 27-second mark to give the Eagles the lead for good.
The Hornets missed a jumper at 16 seconds, and immediately fouled to send Bridgewater back to the line. Topper hit both attempts, effectively sealing the victory for the visitors.
Down four with five seconds remaining, Shenandoah did have one last opportunity as Bridgewater put
Davion Roberts on the line with its 10
th foul of the half. Roberts hit the first, but was not able to hit the rim on the intentional miss and BC took possession.
Bridgewater hit one of two to provide the final margin.
Malik Jordan led all players with 24 points and Roberts added 10.
Shenandoah shot 33 percent (19 of 58) to 45 percent for the Eagles (23 of 51). Bridgewater also had a 44-30 edge on the glass.
