NEW YORK CITY – The Shenandoah University men's and women's indoor track & field teams continued their strong seasons Friday night with seven wins at the NYC Division III Invitational hosted by New York University.
The SU men had five of those wins and the women two along with a combined total of 24 top-10 showings.
MEN'S RECAP
Junior
William Crowder ripped off a 6.89 seconds in the 60-meter finals to win that event after leading the way in the preliminary heats with a 6.96.
Andre Jackson finished seventh with a 7.15.
Miles Moore, who set new ODAC and SU records last week in the 200, topped that 66-man event Friday night with a 21.80. Jackson continued his strong evening with a 10
th place showing.
Graduate student
Tucker Kindig had the men's final win, uncorking an 18.85 meter toss on his fourth attempt in the weight throw to win that event by more than one meter.
In the long jump,
Elijah West led a 1-7-8 finish with a 6.60 meter leap with
Zachary Hurd and
Aymar Bisseck finishing seventh and eighth, respectively.
Matthew Klocke was fifth in the 60-meter high hurdles and he,
Noah Eglin,
Charles Vakos had the same finish in the 4 x 400 meter relay.
In the 60-meter high hurdles preliminary, Klocke had a school record 8.72 seconds. He ran an 8.74 in the finals.
In the final event of the evening,
Kristian Moore was second in the triple jump at 12.33 meters.
WOMEN'S RECAP
The women had two wins among their 11 top-10 finishes with
Alexis Hubbard winning the long jump and
Kiara Felston the weight throw.
Hubbard led a group of 28 women in the long jump with a 5.19 meter leap.
Kaitlin Measell competed in the long jump invite and was second at 5.44 meters.
Felston continued her strong season with a program- and ODAC-record 16.74 meter weight throw to earn another event victory this season. The throw is also good for 13
th best nationally this season.
Liberty Tennyson was fifth in the weight to back up Felston.
Erin Atkinson was fourth in the 3000 meters and the 4 x 400 meter relay team of Hubbard, Atkinson, Haley Van Voohris, and
Emma Madrigal was fifth with a 4:15.61 to round out the squad's top five finishes.
Atkinson's 10:37.07 in the 3000 meters also set a new program record.
UP NEXT
Both squads are back in action Friday night at the RiverHawk Friday Showdown hosted by Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania.
