Track and Field Competes at Bomber Invitational

ITHACA, N.Y. - The Shenandoah University indoor track and field teams took a trip to Ithaca College for the Bomber Invitational on Saturday.

Kaitlyn Loy broke her own school record in the women's pole vault with a mark of 2.72m, surpassing her original record of 2.60m, which was set at home earlier in the season. In the men's 400m, Roman Bernard was 0.40 seconds away from breaking the program's record, as he placed eighth in the 62-man field with a time of 50.79 seconds.

Mekhi Mims had the best finish of any Hornet today, as he placed second in the men's high jump with a leap of 1.88m.

Will Ashley set the sixth-best mark all-time for SU in the men's 5,000m with a time of 15:50.68, placing fourth in a field of 27 runners. In that same event, Zack Hamacher set a PR and Brayden Shotwell finished inside the top-10 with times of 16:19.84 and 16:02.73, respectively.

Myah Powell-Utley had an impressive day, moving into seventh all-time for the SU women in the 60m dash, finishing at 8.35 seconds. Powell-Utley also broke into the program's top-10 in the 200m with a time of 28.14 seconds.

Zachary Sheehan, competing in the men's long jump, hit a distance of 6.36m, which places him seventh all-time for the Hornets.

Molly Donaldson placed ninth in the women's shot put, out throwing 38 other competitors with a heave of 11.51m.

Overall, the Hornets set 32 personal records between the two programs.

UP NEXT

Shenandoah heads to the VMI Winter Classic for the two-day event on Friday and Saturday.
