BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Shenandoah University indoor track & field teams added two more All-Americans to its annals Friday at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships.
Graduate student
Tucker Kindig earned All-America honors for the second time in his career, and first time indoors, with a third place showing in the weight throw. Senior
Miles Moore, competing in the men's 200 meters, won the fifth and final heat with an ODAC record 21.47 seconds to qualify for Saturday's final and provisionally earn All-America status.
Moore has to officially complete Saturday's 5:15 p.m. EST championship final to become the fourth All-America in indoor track & field history. He is seeded fifth in the two-heat championship.
On his sixth and final attempt of the meet, Kindig unleashed an ODAC and SU record 19.66 meter toss to finish two feet in front of ODAC rival Michael Smith from Bridgewater.
Joseph White, from Carthage, won it with a 21.41 meter throw. Widener's Alex Kristeller was second.
Senior
Kiara Felston once again broke the 17-meter barrier in the women's weight throw, but fell short of qualifying for the finals after putting up a 17.01 meter toss on her second attempt during the preliminary round.
Felston, the only woman in ODAC history to break the 17-meter threshold, finished 11
th overall. Skye Digman from UW-LaCrosse won that event at 19.19 meters.
The two heats of the 200-meter finals are scheduled to begin at 5:15 ET Saturday. A live stream is available on ncaa.com.
The SU men are tied for 14th in the team competition.
