LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Shenandoah University men's tennis team suffered a heartbreaking, 5-4, ODAC defeat at Lynchburg Saturday.
Shenandoah (0-3, 0-1 ODAC) was one match from the team victory after
Dominick Suwak was able to gut out a 7-5, 5-7, 6-4 victory at No. 3 singles, but Lynchburg (3-2, 2-0) had an answer.
IN BRIEF
The host Hornets stormed back, winning 7-6, 6-1 at No. 5 and at love in the No. 6 singles match to steal the 5-4 win.
SU had put itself in position for the victory as
Artem Babaiev won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 and
Keith Orr, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4 before Suwak won his match at No. 3.
The top singles match also went three sets as
Jovan Cirkovic fell, 2-6, 7-5, 4-6.
Suwak and Orr were both double winners on the day. They earned Shenandoah's first point of the afternoon with an 8-6 victory at No. 2 doubles.
