WINCHESTER, Va. – Visiting Bridgewater College used a strong third period Wednesday evening to key an 11-8 ODAC men's lacrosse victory over Shenandoah University.
The Eagles (6-5, 3-2 ODAC) scored three of the four third quarter goals to pull away from SU (5-8, 2-3).
IN BRIEF
After Shenandoah took a 5-4 thanks to a
Tyler Held goal at 10:40 of the third, BC answered with four straight to lead, 8-5, with 10:19 remaining.
Held, who had scored the final goal of the second quarter 48 seconds before halftime to knot the contest at 4-4, ended the Bridgewater run with an unassisted tally at 9:24.
Unfortunately for the Shentel Stadium faithful, the Eagles scored three of the game's final five goals to secure the 11-8 victory.
The game featured five ties and lead changes and until Bridgewater went on that four-goal run, the two teams were never separated by more than one goal.
Shenandoah outshot its visitors, 51-35, while BC had a 45-32 advantage on groundballs and won 15 of the game's 22 faceoffs.
Held led the hosts with four goals and one assist for five points with
Jake Green scoring two goals.
Austin Galler and goalkeeper
Mark Isabelle, who had 14 saves, each scooped up four groundballs.
