LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Shenandoah University men's and women's outdoor track & field teams began their final regular season meet of the season Friday with numerous strong performances at the Dennis Craddock Invitational hosted by the University of Lynchburg.
Sophomore
Katya Hoover led the way by winning the women's javelin as one of seven top 10 finishes the two programs recorded on the opening day of the meet.
MEN'S RECAP
Tucker Kindig led the way with a second place showing in the hammer throw as his school record 58.59 meter toss was good for second in the 34-man competition.
Jacob Young was seventh in the same event and 10
th in the javelin throw.
Ethan Harrower was third in the 5000 meters at 16:24.63 with
Noah Hurd seventh in the 1500 meters.
WOMEN'S RECAP
Hoover won the event with a personal best 37.60 meter throw on the fifth of her six attempts. She won the 27-woman competition by more than four meters.
Erin Atkinson was ninth in the 5000 meters to round out the women's top 10s on day one. Her 18:13.99 was also a new school record.
All seven women that competed Friday night – Atkinson, Hoover,
Emma Madrigal, Amy Olesky, Makenzie Plowman,
Allie Clarkson, and
Madeline Lotts, set new personal bests in their respective events.
