Hornets Record Third Shut Out of Season

Box Score MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - The No. 3 Shenandoah University baseball team recorded its third shutout of the season Monday with a 10-0 non-league victory at Penn State - Harrisburg.
 
Gavin Horning's four RBI, including a solo home run, helped the Hornets (29-4) offensively, while the pitching staff pitched for the shutout against the Lions (24-7).

Frankie Ritter and Colby Martin set the table for Horning early, getting on base to lead off the game and then coming home on Horning's two-run double.

Shenandoah continued to pour it on, adding three runs in the fifth, two in the sixth, and three more in the seventh to complete the win. SU had 12 hits in the game with Horning's four leading the way.
 
Making his first career appearance, Anthony Arrichiello pitched the game's first three innings and retired all nine batters he faced.
 
Michael Myers (1-0) came in for his first career appearance over the next two innings and allowed two hits. The win is his first as a collegian.
 
Kooper Anderson robbed the Lions best scoring chance of the game as he ran into the center field wall to make the inning-ending catch in the third.
 
In the fifth, after Horning's solo home run, Ryan Clawson and Kyle Lisa each brought in a run on back-to-back at-bats. Shenandoah added the next five runs in the sixth and seventh innings, including a Colby Martin RBI single in the seventh.
 
Pitchers Brian Ferreira, Matt House, and Tristian Everett pitched the final four innings with a combined five strikeouts against three hits.

Shenandoah hosts Washington & Lee at 4 p.m. on Wednesday in ODAC play.
