TROUTVILLE, Va. – The Shenandoah University softball team completed its ODAC slate Sunday afternoon by dropping a pair of games at Roanoke College.
Roanoke (17-9, 11-3 ODAC) was a 5-0 winner in the opener before completing the sweep over SU (14-22, 8-12) with a 9-0, five inning victory in the nightcap.
GAME ONE RECAP
The Maroons scored two runs in the third and sixth innings, along with one in the fifth, while holding Shenandoah to just one hit in the 5-0 victory.
Sarah Medellin had the hit for the Hornets with a single to right in the top of the first. The Hornets had just one more baserunner,
Rachael Blumenschine, the remainder of the contest. Blumenschine reached on an error in the fifth.
Kayla Stephenson (8-12) went the distance in the circle, allowing the five runs (three earned) on seven hits and one walk. She struck out two.
GAME TWO RECAP
A five-run third combined with a four-spot in the fifth, ended the 9-0 contest in the bottom of the fifth.

Paige Eagleton, and
Kristen Blee had singles for SU in the fourth, second, and second innings, respectively.
Savannah Thorne (5-6) pitched the first 3.0 innings and allowed five runs on seven hits and one walk.
Taylor Smith went the final 1 1/3 innings and gave up four runs on four hits. The game ended on a walkoff grand slam.

Shenandoah completes its regular season Saturday with a 1 p.m. non-league doubleheader versus Sweet Briar.
