WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University women's lacrosse team defeated the University of Lynchburg 14-8 Friday afternoon in an ODAC contest on the Aikens Stadium turf.
SU (7-6, 2-2 ODAC) took control in the fourth quarter to get victory over Lynchburg (4-7, 2-1) in the tightly contested battle of the ODAC Hornets.
IN BRIEF
Shenandoah outscored Lynchburg 5-0 in the final quarter capped off by
Ainsley Buckner's game-high fourth goal of the game.
An
Emily Lerch pass that deflected off of a Lynchburg stick started the scoring for SU as it took the early 1-0 lead in the first. A falling
Gabriella Raspanti still got a shot off and found the back of the net to make it 4-2 at the end of one.

Paige Padberg evened the score for the hosts with her fifth goal of the season.
The third quarter remained back-and-forth as neither team was able to pull ahead by more than two.
That all changed in the final 15 minutes as Shenandoah stopped the Lynchburg offense and got help from its own offense, scoring five unanswered.
