BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Shenandoah University women's track & field team earned its first win of the season Saturday by winning the North River Invitational hosted by Bridgewater College.

The Shenandoah women had 203 points to easily outdistance host Bridgewater for the team title. The SU men put up 183 points to fall just 16 back of the host Eagles in the four-team event.

MEN'S RECAP
The Hornet men had four wins on its way to the runner-up finish with
William Crowder winning the 100 meters, Elias McGhee the 400 meter hurdles,
Elijah West the long jump and the 4 x 100 relay team of Crowder,
Charles Vakos,
Noah Eglin, and
Wyatt Newcome winning that event with a school record 42.91 seconds.

McGhie had a 56.55 to win the hurdles event, West a 5.96 meters in the long jump, and Crowder a 10.97 in the 100 meter final after running a 10.96 in the preliminary heat.

The men had four runner up finishes –
Reed Davis the 5000 meters,
Tucker Kindig in the hammer,
Matthew Klocke in the 110 meter high hurdles, and the 4 x 400 relay team of Eglin, Vakos, McGhie, and
Noah Hurd.

WOMEN'S RECAP
The women had eight wins on the day to best host Bridgewater by 75 points.

Kaitlin Measell won two individual events – posting a 12.79 in the 100 meters and a 5.14 meters in the long jump – while also running the anchor leg of the 4 x 100 meter relay team. She combined with
Alexis Hubbard,
Janelle Anderson, and
Sarah Sidoro in that event.
Â
Hubbard and Sidoro were 50 percent of the winning 4 x 400 relay team – Amy Olesky and
Erin Atkinson joined them in winning that event.

Both women's relays were new school records.
Â
Katya Hoover was victorious in the high jump at 1.58 meters with
Kiara Felston winning the discus at 33.70 meters.

Jessica Redfrey also won two events, taking the hammer at 41.35 and the shot at 10.67 meters.

The women also had seven runner-up finishes.
