RICHMOND, Va. – The No. 2/2 Shenandoah University baseball team fell 11-9 Saturday morning to No. 5 Lynchburg in the ODAC Championship contest.

Shenandoah (38-7) loaded the bases in the top of the ninth but saw Lynchburg (38-6) pitcher Jack Bachmore get a strikeout to close out the contest.

Bachmore, the 2023 ODAC Pitcher of the Year, pitched the final three innings to earn his 11th save of the season.
SU jumped out to an 8-0 lead with one run in the third, three in the fourth, and fourth in the fifth, but were shut out the rest of the way until scoring a single run in the ninth.
Kyle Lisa, one of five Shenandoah players to earn All-Tournament honors, led off the inning with a solo home run to left field, his third of the season.Â

SU added runs two through four on back-to-back hits beginning with
Haden Madagan's two RBI double down the left field line. With Madagan in scoring position,
Ryan Clawson delivered a hit through the right side of the field for his first RBI. Madagan and Clawson both were named All-Tournament.

Kevin Anderson's club added four runs in the fourth,
Gavin Horning delivering a two-run single and both Madagan and Clawson RBI singles.Â

Down 8-0, Lynchburg began to climb with its first hit of the game in the bottom of the fifth which ended up being a solo home run off the bat of Gavin Collins. Avery Neaves walked in an RBI with bases loaded later on in the fifth.

A seven spot in the sixth gave the Lynchburg its first lead of the game as they went up 9-8 and overcame the eight-hole deficit.

Lynchburg added two more runs in the eighth on a throwing error by Shenandoah's infield with two outs in the inning.

Horning and
Pearce Bucher singled in back-to-back at-bats to start the comeback effort. Madagan added a fourth RBI on the day scoring Horning. Lisa loaded the bases two batters later but SU fell short as Bachmore completed his three-inning save with the championship-clinching strikeout.

Shenandoah first-year pitcher Michael Myers pitched 4 2/3 innings in his first colligate start. Myers struck out four batters and allowed just two hits in his outing.

Horning, Madagan, and Clawson all had multiple RBIs with the latter two getting three hits each.

Frankie Ritter, Lisa, Clawson, Horning, and Madagan were selected to the All-ODAC Tournament team at the conclusion of the game.

Shenandoah awaits a possible Pool C berth into the NCAA Tournament. The field is announced Monday afternoon.
