LEXINGTON, Va. – The seventh-seeded Shenandoah University men's lacrosse team saw its season come to an end Tuesday afternoon with a 22-8 ODAC Tournament quarterfinal round loss to Washington & Lee.
Â
Third-seeded and No. 9 in the nation Washington & Lee (14-4) scored the first 11 goals of the game to take control versus the Hornets (9-10).
Â
IN BRIEF
Robert Harvey broke that streak for SU, scoring unassisted at 8:03 of the second. This began a run of the two teams swapping the game's next six goals.
Â
With the score 13-3 at halftime, the Generals erased any thought of a Shenandoah comeback by scoring the initial four goals of the third. Shenandoah, starting with a
Zachary Heiderman goal with 4:48 remaining in the third, had a four-goal spurt of its own that bridged the quarter break.
Logan Clingerman,
Matt Daniel, and
Tyler Held had the other Hornets goals in this run.
Â
Held, after five straight from W&L, had the game's last goal 48 seconds before the final horn.
Â
Stephen Graham paced SU with three assists with Held scoring two goals. Harvey had a team-high five groundballs and
Mark Isabelle made 11 saves.
Â
Washington & Lee outshot SU, 52-42, scooped up 50 of the game's 75 groundballs, and won 28 of 34 faceoffs.
