SALEM, Va. – Second-seeded Roanoke College used a strong first quarter to key a 12-5 ODAC Tournament semi-final round victory over third-seeded Shenandoah University Friday afternoon.

Roanoke (15-2) scored the game's initial five goals to take a lead it would not relinquish versus the Hornets (12-7).

Gabriella Raspanti ended Shenandoah's scoreless streak with an unassisted goal 10 seconds before the end of the first quarter.

The two teams then traded the game's next four goals with
Reilly Cisar closing out this run with an unassisted tally at 13:07 of the third to make the score 7-3 in favor of the Maroons.

Roanoke then closed out the contest by scoring five of the game's final seven goals and holding SU off the board for the last 13:58.

Ainsley Buckner had the Hornets two goals during this run, scoring at 1:48 of the third and 13:59 of the fourth, respectively.

Re, from Cisar, had Shenandoah's other goal of the day. That tally happened at 10:23 of the second.

Roanoke outshot SU, 33-20, had a 23-17 edge on groundballs, and won 13 of the 21 draws.

Re led the Hornets in scoring with two goals and one assist for three points while adding three draw controls and two groundballs.
Emily Lerch, with four, paced Shenandoah in that latter category.
