Gavin Horning has been named as a D3baseball.com pre-season All-America in selections announced Tuesday by the website.
Horning, an outfielder, earned first team All-America honors from the ABCA as well as second-team All-America honors from d3baseball.com last spring after hitting .409 with 79 hits in a 193 at bats including a nine-game hitting streak to start the season, and a 19-game hitting streak during the middle of the season. He was selected to the d3baseball.com first team as an outfielder.
Horning was named the 2023 ABCA All-Region Player of the Year, was an All-ODAC first team member, and also named to the VaSID All-State first team as an outfielder. In addition to his .409 batting average, the Lancaster, Pennsylvania native belted17 doubles, seven triples, seven home runs for a team-high 60 RBI helping Shenandoah to an appearance in NCAA Super Regionals.
Horning is also the first SU player to be named pre-season All-America since
Colby Martin was picked as a first team second baseman prior to the 2022 season.
Shenandoah is scheduled to start the 2024 campaign at home with a doubleheader against Widener on February 10th.
