Zamora Ties For Low Round at Home Golf Tournament

WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah women's golf team battled the weather and the elements in their two-day home spring tournament hosted at Winchester Country Club over the weekend.  After day one, the Hornets were in 3rd place out of the four-team field with a score of 354.  However, after the second day, even though the Hornets improved by four strokes, the other teams also improved on their second-day efforts.  In the final round, the Hornets shot a 350 for team total of 704.  Brooke Vaillancourt led the way on day one for Shenandoah with an opening round of 84, on the second day it was Karlie Zamora who tied for the low round with a 78 leading the way for the Hornets.

  • First round for Karlie Zamora in the 70's in her junior campaign.
  • Amanda Dasher picked up her first collegiate birdie of her young career.
 
Marymount won the tournament and led from the start.  The Saints shot 644, 320-324.  Catholic finished in second with a 670, 336-334.  The Hornets held a three-stroke lead over Gettysburg after day one, but the Bullets had a 19-stroke improvement in the second round to overtake the Hornets.
 
UP NEXT:
 
The Hornets will take the next week to practice before they head to Jacksonville, N.C. for the 51st annual tournament at Paradise Point Golf Club and the Camp Lejeune Intercollegiate Tournament.
