Hornets Tie for Second at Melee

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The Shenandoah University women's golf team tied for second at The Melee at the par-72, 5,552-yard Fords Colony Country Club, scoring a 328 (+44) in round two on Monday. The Hornets finished the tournament with a two-round score of 672 (+96).

Manon Branfaux finished the tournament in third place with a score of 157 (+13). Branfaux shot an 80 (+8) in the second round, landing 10 pars. Cierra Bigelow had a five-shot improvement from the first round, scoring an 82 (+10), finishing with a 36-hole total of 169 (+25).

Erica Laurentino finished the tournament two strokes behind Bigelow, placing 13th. The first-year carded an 84 (+12) on Monday, highlighted by a birdie on hole 14. Gaby Frick landed inside the top 20 of individuals with her 11-stroke improvement from Sunday's action.

Sophia Hansen closed out the top five for the Hornets, scoring an 89 (+17) on Monday with a birdie on hole 12. Amanda Dasher (199, +55) and Carley Westmoreland (200, +56) finished the tournament in 36th and 37th, respectively.

UP NEXT
The Hornets compete at the Chick-fil-A Invitational hosted by Berry College next week.
