Hornets Fourth After Opening Round at Melee

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The Shenandoah University women's golf team is fourth after the first round of The Melee, scoring a 344 (+56) at the par-72, 5,552-yard Fords Colony Country Club.

Manon Branfaux leads the Hornets and is tied for second overall after a 77 (+5) on Sunday. Branfaux scored a birdie on holes two and 16, with hole 16 capping off a stretch of five pars or better for the first year.

Erica Laurentino and Cierra Bigelow each carded an 87 (+15). The duo each had a stretch of three straight pars on the back nine, while Bigelow recorded a birdie on a par-three at hole 14. Gaby Frick rounded out the team's score with a 93 (+21).

Sophia Hansen (95, +23), Amanda Dasher (99, +27), and Carley Westmoreland (102, +30) combined for six pars, with the latter two playing as individuals.
