HOW IT HAPPENED
- A lead off single in the top of the first proved to not be a problem as Nick Bell was able to work around any trouble and get out of the inning unscathed.
- A lead off home run in the second gave the Mounties a 1-0 lead.
- With one out in the second, Pearce Bucher singled off of the pitcher and then made it to third on an error. Jonathan Stokely quickly singled up the middle and the game was tied at 1. Kyle Garrett then singled up the middle to plate Stokely and the Hornets pushed their lead to 3-1 after Brody Pickette grounded out to plate Garrett.
- Frankie Ritter led the third off with a single and got to second after Jaime Padilla drew a walk. Both runners advanced 90 feet on a balk by the Mounties pitcher. Gavin Horning then singled to the pitcher to load the bases. Ritter would scamper home on a wild pitch. Back-to-back groundouts to Ballenger and Bucher plated two more runs and as the Hornet lead grew to 6-1.
- In the fourth, Kyle Garrett led off with a double to left field before advancing to third on a Pickette groundout. Matt House singled down the right field line as Garrett scored. After stealing second, House came around to score on a Padilla double to left center. Gavin Horning reached on an error to plate Padilla, and then Pearce Bucher picked up another hit to score Horning.
- In Nick Bell's last inning, the fifth, a lead-off double and hit by pitch, led to a fantastic diving stop by Frankie Ritter to get the lead runner at third. Bell then picked up the last two outs to earn the decision in the win.
- In the sixth, Gavin Horning singled to the shortstop and used his speed to beat the throw. Horning came around to score on Stokely's single as the lead was now 11-1.
- In the bottom of the seventh with two outs, Ritter doubled to left center. Padilla singled up the middle to score Ritter. Chandler Ballenger singled through the right side to plate Padilla.
- Back-to-back walks in the eighth put Andrew Falk and Dillon Partin on the base paths. Luke Keister rocketed a ball up the middle as Falk scored easily making the score 14-1.
- Jacob Gilbert struck out two in the top of the ninth to finish off the game.
