HOW IT HAPPENED:
- It took the Hornet offense a little bit to get going as Matt Daniel fired the first shot of the day for Shenandoah that was saved by the Cougars keeper.
- Averett took their first offensive opportunity and got two shots off, both saves by Isabelle.
- Then over a minute, the Hornets scored three times. First, it was Logan Clingerman, then Tyler Held, and finally, Bryan Berryhill to finish off the offensive fury.
- After a Hornets' turnover, Mark Isabelle intercepted a ball for his first caused turnover and ground ball of the day. Austin Sydnor ended that possession with a shot a goal, which was saved keeping it a 3-0 game.
- With under 9 minutes to play, the Hornets tacked on two more goals from Clingerman and Held as the lead ballooned to 5-0.
- Matt Daniel picked up his first goal of the game with under three to play in the first, and then Sam Poster added the last goal of the quarter with 18 seconds left in the period.
- The Hornet defense was stifling as they forced another turnover, this time a shot clock violation, and Austin Sydnor cashed in off a Clingerman assist to make it 8-0.
- Shenandoah then went on a 6-minute scoring drought before Clingerman completed the hat trick with 7 minutes left to play in the half.
- Dylan Pencek and Matt Daniel scored roughly 30 seconds apart before Averett would pick up their only goal of the game with 5:22 left to play in the half.
- Tyler Held got that goal back to make it 12-1 on an extra-man opportunity as the Hornets took an 11-goal lead into the break.
- Jordan Rogers, Dylan Taylor, and Dylan Foughty all scored in the third to make it 15-1.
- In the fourth, Dylan Foughty added two more goals to complete his third hat trick of the season sandwiched between Rylan Volpe's first goal of the season as it was all Hornets in this one-sided victory.
