HOW IT HAPPENED

The Hornets opened the game strong, scoring on their first possession as Shawnise Campbell converted on an assist from Terese Greene. However, Ferrum responded with a 10-0 run, capitalizing on Shenandoah's early turnovers and missed shots. Emily Williams ended the Hornets' scoring drought with a jumper off an assist from Skai Bayless. Despite Ferrum's hot start, Shenandoah closed the quarter on an 8-0 run, with key baskets from Greene and Addisyn Banks, cutting the Panthers' lead to 13-12.

Early in the second quarter, Greene gave Shenandoah its first lead of the game with a layup. Both teams struggled from deep, missing their next five attempts before Banks' layup made it 16-13 in favor of the Hornets. Ferrum reclaimed the lead with consecutive jumpers and a three-pointer, but Shenandoah ended the half on an 8-2 run, sparked by free throws and layups from Kimble and Greene, taking a 24-22 lead into halftime.

The Hornets carried their momentum into the second half, starting with an 8-2 run. After allowing a jumper on Ferrum's opening possession, Shenandoah's defense held the Panthers scoreless until the six-minute mark. Both teams traded three-pointers before Jessica Littlejohn's give-and-go with Emily Williams extended the Hornets' lead to 41-32 late in the third quarter. Williams closed out the quarter with back-to-back baskets, giving Shenandoah a 45-37 advantage heading into the final period.

In the fourth quarter, Shenandoah extended its lead with a 5-0 run, featuring contributions from Gabby Krystofiak and Williams, along with a free throw by Greene. Despite a brief surge from Ferrum, including a late three-pointer, the Hornets' defense allowed just two free throws for the remainder of the game. Krystofiak capped off Shenandoah's scoring with a late basket, and Greene and Williams sealed the win with clutch free throws.
