WINCHESTER, Va. — Shenandoah closed out October with a controlled, hard-working 2–0 victory over Randolph–Macon on Saturday at Aikens Stadium, improving the Hornets to 13–3 (6–1 ODAC) while handing the Yellow Jackets their third conference loss (9–6, 3–3).
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hornets struck early and finished the job late. Defender
Camryn DeLeva opened the scoring just 4:22 into the contest, finishing a Shenandoah possession and giving the home side an early 1–0 lead. From that moment Shenandoah largely dictated the pace: the Hornets outshot Randolph–Macon 24–4 and fired 14 shots on goal to just 2 by the visitors.
Shenandoah peppered the Randolph-Macon cage with penalty corners throughout the afternoon but the second goal wouldn't come until the final minute. With the game still hanging at 1–0,
Claudia Lenahan drove a play in the closing seconds that produced a rebound opportunity;
Ellie Quinn pounced and buried the loose ball with 4 seconds remaining, while Lenahan was credited with the assist, icing a 2–0 final.
The stat line tells the story of a dominant offensive day for the Hornets: Shenandoah recorded 24 shots (14 on goal) and an 11–7 advantage in corners, while Randolph–Macon managed only four shots and two on target. Lenahan finished with eight shots and an assist, and DeLeva's early strike set the tone.
Shenandoah's defense and goalkeeper
Cassidy Alexander were equally important — Alexander recorded a shutout while making the saves that mattered – officially listed with two saves and a shutout – keeping Randolph–Macon off the scoreboard despite the visitors' late push at the cage. Randolph–Macon goalkeeper Valentina Ambrogi-Torres was busy as well, stopping 12 attempts, but the Yellow Jackets couldn't convert the handful of chances they generated.
