Women's Basketball Upsets No. 14/17 Elizabethtown

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - The (RV) Shenandoah University women's basketball team earned its third win over a ranked team this season with a 56-54 win at No. 14/17 Elizabethtown College on Sunday afternoon.

The Hornets (8-1) used a 13-point lead at halftime and an Addisyn Banks' double-double to lead them to the close win over the Blue Jays (7-1).

RECAP
A three-pointer by Banks, along with baskets from Emily Williams and Brynna Nesselrodt, helped SU tie the game at nine after trailing by five in the early going. The Hornets then got a stop, thanks to a steal from Williams, which transitioned into a layup for the senior, giving SU its first lead of the afternoon, 11-9. The Blue Jays regained the lead late in the first, but just before the buzzer, first-year Taylor Moran banged a three to give SU a 16-14 lead at the end of one.

In the second, Shenandoah's defense forced three turnovers and held Elizabethtown to 13.33 percent shooting, while only allowing five points in the frame. On the offensive side of the court, SU added 16 points, as Banks and Nesselrodt each chipped in seven.

The duo of Nesselrodt and Banks each hit a three to start the third quarter, which gave Shenandoah a 15-point lead, its largest of the game. However, over the next five minutes, Elizabethtown went on a 10-0 run to cut its deficit down to five. SU ended the quarter with layups from Moran and Williams to get their lead back to nine.

The Blue Jays started the fourth quarter on a 9-0 run to immediately tie the game at 44. An and-one by Williams ensured that the Blue Jays wouldn't get the lead, putting SU up by three with just over five minutes left.

The Hornets held on to the lead for the rest of the game, with Skai Bayless icing the contest with four free throws in the final 20 seconds.

Banks scored 17 points to lead SU, followed by 15 from Nesselrodt, and another 13 from Williams. The trio is each averaging at least 11.4 points per game this season.
