WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University women's basketball team returned home and secured a dominant 80-56 victory over Hollins University.
The Hornets (13-6, 9-3) were led by Terese Greene, who posted 24 points on 9-of-13 shooting, including 4-of-6 from three-point range and 2-of-2 from the free-throw line. Greene also added five rebounds, two assists, and a steal. Shawnise Campbell contributed 16 points on 7-of-12 shooting, going 2-of-3 from the line while tallying eight rebounds, three blocks, and two steals. Emily Williams also reached double figures with 10 points, six rebounds, four assists, and a steal.
Maddie Kimble added nine points on 3-of-8 shooting, including 1-of-5 from beyond the arc and 2-of-2 from the line. She also recorded seven rebounds and five assists.
As a team, the Hornets shot 30-of-70 from the floor, 8-of-26 from three-point range, and 12-of-15 from the free-throw line. Shenandoah controlled the boards, out-rebounding Hollins 54-36, while also dishing out 22 assists compared to Hollins' eight. Defensively, the Hornets held Hollins to 22-of-68 shooting from the field, 5-of-26 from three-point range, and 7-of-12 from the free-throw line.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Hollins opened the game with a 4-0 lead as the Hornets missed their first three field goal attempts. However, Emily Williams got Shenandoah on the board with a layup off an assist from Maddie Kimble. Moments later, Williams tied the game on an assist from Terese Greene.
Kimble gave the Hornets their first lead at the 6:44 mark after grabbing a defensive rebound and pushing the ball up the court. Following a Hollins basket to tie the game at 6-6, Greene drilled her first three-pointer of the contest. Shenandoah extended its lead to 17-6 with key baskets from Shawnise Campbell, Greene, and Sydney Shepos.
Gabby Krystofiak recorded her first points of the game off a Greene assist after securing a defensive rebound. Williams added another layup before Greene closed out the quarter with a three-pointer and a layup, giving the Hornets a commanding 26-9 lead heading into the second period.
Greene opened the second quarter with another three-pointer, but Hollins responded with back-to-back triples, prompting a Shenandoah timeout. The teams traded baskets before Campbell converted on an offensive rebound and putback, sparking an 11-0 Hornets run. During the run, Krystofiak knocked down a three, while Brynna Nesslerodt and Kimble added free throws.
Hollins attempted to cut into the deficit, closing the half on a 9-4 run, but Shenandoah maintained a 44-27 lead at the break.
In the third quarter, the Hornets continued to dominate in the paint, with Campbell and Greene leading the charge. Hollins responded with a three-pointer, but Shenandoah answered with baskets from Greene and a triple from Kimble, igniting a 15-0 run that extended the lead to 63-32 with just over 3:30 remaining in the period.
Hollins managed a quick 5-0 spurt before Addisyn Banks scored a layup and Greene connected on another three-pointer, pushing the Hornets to a 68-42 advantage entering the fourth quarter.
Hollins opened the final period on a 6-0 run before Williams split a pair of free throws. The Hornets' only field goals in the quarter came from a Williams layup and a deep three-pointer by Dani Marmo. Shenandoah closed out the game at the free-throw line, securing the 80-56 victory.

The Hornets remain at home for a Wednesday night doubleheader with the men's team. The women will take on Salisbury at 5 p.m., followed by the men's match up against ODAC rival Randolph-Macon at 7:30 p.m.
