HOW IT HAPPENED

Averett came out firing, hitting their first four three-pointers to take an early 12-2 lead. However, Shawnise Campbell and Emily Williams responded, scoring Shenandoah's first five baskets to spark a comeback. The Hornets chipped away at the deficit, and after three straight buckets from Williams, Gabby Krystofiak tied the game at 21 with 90 seconds left in the first quarter. Addisyn Banks then sank two free throws to give Shenandoah its first lead, 23-21, heading into the second quarter.

Averett briefly regained the lead in the second quarter, but Shenandoah answered with a balanced offensive attack. Maddie Kimble drilled a three-pointer, and Terese Greene's layup put the Hornets back on top. After a back-and-forth stretch, back-to-back three-pointers from Greene and Krystofiak, followed by a layup from Williams and another Kimble three, helped Shenandoah take a 48-41 lead into halftime.

The Hornets dominated the third quarter, holding Averett to just three total points while extending their lead to as many as 21 points. Shenandoah continued to pour it on in the fourth quarter, pushing the advantage to as many as 27 before sealing the 83-59 victory.
