NELLYSFORD, Va. – The Shenandoah University women's golf team completed day two of ODAC Championship play at Wintergreen Resort's Stony Creek Course – Monocan/Shamokin courses. Wintergreen is a par-72 course playing 5,676 yards. After day two, the Hornets remain in eighth place in the eight-team field after shooting a 393 (+105), a 20-stroke improvement from the first round.
Karlie Zamora once again led the way for the Hornets, improving by six strokes with an 89 (+17). Zamora moved up two spots and is currently in 31st place individually. She shot a 42 on the front nine, including five pars—starting with back-to-back pars on holes one and two, then back-to-back again on five and six, and finishing the front with a par on the ninth. On the back nine, Zamora carded a 47 with three pars and a birdie on the par-3 16th hole.
Alexa Strohman finished second for the Hornets and improved by eight strokes, shooting a 92 (+20) for the second round. She carded a 46 on both the front and back nines. Strohman had a par on the sixth hole and played consistently, recording 15 bogeys and two double bogeys. She also moved up two spots and is now in 33rd place individually.
Amanda Dasher continued the improvement trend for the Hornets, shooting a 105 (+33) for the day. She recorded a 48 on the front nine, with two pars and a birdie on the par-3 fifth hole. On the back, she carded a 57, including a par on the 10th hole.
Rounding out the scoring, Carly Westmoreland also improved from round one, shooting a 107 (+35). Westmoreland posted a 50 on the front nine with three pars, followed by a 57 on the back that included a birdie on the par-3 12th hole.
Washington and Lee continues to lead the tournament after improving by three strokes from round one with a +11 for the day and +25 overall. Randolph-Macon trails by 12 strokes at +37 for the tournament. Lynchburg is in third place at +79, followed by Virginia Wesleyan (+93), Averett (+98), Bridgewater (+109), Sweet Briar (+160), and Shenandoah (+230).
