Women's Golf Places Eighth in Home Tournament

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. – The Shenandoah University women's golf team opened its 2025-26 season with an eighth-place finish at its home tournament at Cacapon Resort State Park. The Hornets posted a 664 (+88) across the two-day, 36-hole event.

Manon Branfaux led SU with a 12th-place finish after carding an 80 in round one and a 78 on day two for a 158 total. She tallied four birdies in the opening round and recorded 13 pars or better in the final round.

First-years Gaby Frick, Erica Laurentino, and Cierra Bigelow also contributed to the team's scoring. Frick shot a 41 on the back nine both days and improved her front nine by two strokes in round two with a 41.

Laurentino opened with an 11-over 83, highlighted by pars or better on holes four through ten, including birdies on Nos. 7 and 10. She followed with a 13-over 85 in round two, making 10 pars.

Bigelow started her tournament with a par on hole one and a birdie on two, finishing her first round at 12-over 84. She closed the event with a 172 total after carding a 16-over 88 in the second round.

Alexa Strohman (189, +45), Sophia Hansen (180, +36), Carley Westmoreland (185, +41), and Amanda Dasher (210, +66) rounded out Shenandoah's participants, with Hansen, Westmoreland, and Dasher competing as individuals. Hansen and Westmoreland each made a birdie in round one.
