Hornets Fifth after Opening Round of Bridgewater Invitational

BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Shenandoah University women's golf team sits in fifth place following the opening round of the Bridgewater Invitational on Monday at Lakeview Golf Club.

The Hornets posted a team score of 339 (+51), while Southern Virginia leads the eight-team field with a 307 (+19).

Manon Branfaux and Cierra Bigelow paced SU with matching rounds of 83 (+11). Branfaux opened her day with a birdie on the first hole and added seven pars along the way. Bigelow carded three birdies—two on the front nine (holes four and nine) and another on the par-three 13th.

Erica Laurentino followed closely behind with an 86 (+14). She birdied the par-four fourth and put together a run of three consecutive pars on holes six through eight.

First-year Gaby Frick finished one shot back of Laurentino with an 87 (+15). Frick birdied both the fourth and 11th holes to highlight her round.

Sophia Hansen added a 94 (+22), highlighted by a birdie on the par-four 15th.

Competing as individuals, Carley Westmoreland carded a 99 (+27), Amanda Dasher a 100 (+28), and Alexa Strohman a 103 (+31).

The Hornets wrap up play at the Bridgewater Invitational on Tuesday with round two beginning at 9 a.m.
