Men's Tennis Defeats Marlins, 4-3

WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University men's tennis team advanced to the ODAC semifinals with a 4-3 victory at home over No. 5 Virginia Wesleyan University on Wednesday afternoon.

Jovan Cirkovic clinched the tournament win for the Hornets (12-6) with a 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 victory after the Marlins (9-10) tied the match at three after trailing 3-1.

Shenandoah first picked up the team point after doubles with a 7-6 win at No. 3 doubles by Cirkovic and Artem Babaiev. The duo won the tiebreaker set 7-5. The Hornets won their first doubles match of the afternoon at No. 1 with a 6-3 victory by Dominick Suwak and Keith Orr.

Following VWU tying the match at one, SU jumped back out in front thanks to a 6-4, 6-4 straight-set victory by Orr at No. 5 singles. Orr's doubles partner, Suwak, put Shenandoah ahead 3-1, winning 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1.

Virginia Wesleyan rallied back with two three-set wins at No. 2 and No. 6 singles to tie the match, with Cirkovic's match proving to be the difference maker.

Shenandoah has now won an ODAC Tournament contest in back-to-back seasons for the first time in program history.
