WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University men's lacrosse team celebrated Senior Day with a commanding 22–1 victory over Averett University on Saturday afternoon. The Hornets (5–7, 2–3 ODAC) were led offensively by hat tricks from Dillon Bakhsh and Jordan Rogers. Dylan Taylor, Cody Griffis, Jake Green, and Liam Johnston each scored twice. Bruce Nyandemo, Jason Forchetti, Clark Harrity, Josh Boonshaft, Maddox Levinson, Sam Poster, Ryan Therkorn, and Dylan Gordon each added a goal.
Johnston, Poster, and Levinson tallied two assists apiece, while Brody McClure, Taylor, Bryan Berryhill, and Gordon each added one. The Hornets dominated in ground balls, 52–24, led by McClure's six. Dylan Pencek, Hunter Snow, and Jonathan Hammond each caused two turnovers. Mark Isabelle got the start in goal, playing the first half and making two saves. Ryan Feldman and Jack Dwyer split the second half, with Dwyer making two saves and Feldman stopping one shot.
Shenandoah was nearly perfect on face offs, winning 20 of 25. Braxton Snead went 7-for-8, McClure went 7-for-9, Sneed added a perfect 3-for-3, and Forchetti went 3-for-5. It was also a day of firsts, as Forchetti, Therkorn, Nyandemo, Gordon, Levinson, Rogers, and Johnston each scored their first goals of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Shenandoah controlled the game from the opening whistle. Although Averett won the first face off, Jonathan Hammond quickly caused a turnover. The Hornets got the first shots of the game from Dylan Taylor. After his initial attempt went wide, he found the back of the net to give Shenandoah a 1–0 lead. The Hornet defense continued to force turnovers, leading to three goals in a one-minute span. Clark Harrity scored first, followed by goals from Jake Green and Ryan Therkorn, both coming off faceoff wins. Taylor added one more, and the first quarter ended with the Hornets ahead 5–0.
The scoring continued in the second quarter, highlighted by two goals in a four-second span. Dillon Bakhsh scored off a feed from Sam Poster, and Forchetti followed with his first career goal right off the next face off. Ninety seconds later, Josh Boonshaft scored his first of the day. Bakhsh connected with Poster again for his second, and Poster added a goal of his own to push the lead to 10–0. Following a man-up opportunity, Cody Griffis scored, and Bakhsh completed his hat trick. Green added a late goal to make it 13–0 at the break.
Ryan Feldman took over in goal in the second half, and Shenandoah continued its dominance. Maddox Levinson scored 15 seconds into the third quarter off a face off win by Snead. Jordan Rogers caused a turnover, gathered his own rebound after hitting the post, and scored. He followed with another goal off an assist from Levinson to make it 16–0. Johnston, Griffis, and Rogers added goals to close out the third, with Rogers completing his hat trick.
Jack Dwyer entered the game in the fourth quarter, allowing Averett's lone goal. Johnston, Nyandemo, and Gordon each scored in the final minutes, sealing the 22–1 win for the Hornets.

Shenandoah continues ODAC play at home on Wednesday night as they host Bridgewater College. The Hornets will look to even their conference record. Opening face off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
