WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University field hockey team continued its perfect start to the season with a dominant 5-0 victory over Hood College on Wednesday evening at Aikens Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hornets (4-0) wasted no time setting the tone, scoring three times in the opening quarter. Claudia Lenahan put Shenandoah on the board in the 8th minute with an unassisted strike before assisting Reagan Flory less than a minute later to double the lead. Camryn DeLeva made it 3-0 late in the first quarter off a setup from Madison Short.
Shenandoah's attack kept rolling in the second quarter as Lenahan once again found Flory for her second of the game, giving the Hornets a commanding 4-0 lead at halftime. Flory capped off her hat trick in the 37th minute with an unassisted goal to put the match out of reach.
The Hornets dominated offensively, outshooting the Blazers 20-6 and earning 13 penalty corners. Goalkeepers Cassidy Alexander and Jordan Ivey combined for a shutout, with Ivey making two saves in the fourth quarter to preserve the clean sheet.
Lenahan finished the night with a goal and two assists, while Flory's three goals highlighted a balanced Shenandoah offense. DeLeva also scored her second goal in as many games.
Hood (2-2) managed six shots but was held scoreless by a sharp Shenandoah backline. Blazer goalkeeper Allie Wallin faced heavy pressure, recording eight saves on 13 shots on goal.
With the win, Shenandoah improves to 4-0 for the first time since 2022.
