WINCHESTER, Va. – Shenandoah University associate head baseball coach Bruce Cameron has announced his resignation after 17 seasons on the Hornets coaching staff.

Cameron joined the department in July 2008, following 11 years on the West Virginia University coaching staff. He spent his first 11 seasons with Shenandoah as an assistant coach before being elevated to associate head coach in August 2019.

During his tenure, the Hornets won 554 games, captured five conference championships, earned 12 NCAA Tournament berths, and made two appearances in the NCAA Division III Championship.

Under his guidance, SU produced 10 conference player or pitcher of the year honorees, two ODAC Scholar-Athletes of the Year, and one Harry G. "Doc" Jopson Award winner.

"Leaving the Shenandoah University Baseball Program is one of the hardest decisions I've ever had to make.  There have been so many people in the SU community that have aided our program.  I want to thank President Fitzsimmons for her support over the last 17 years,"  Cameron said. "The commitment that SU has made to the baseball program is amazing.  I'd also like to thank DeShon Foxx for his leadership and friendship.  Kevin Anderson not only welcomed me to Winchester but also to his family.  Being able to work alongside a Hall of Fame caliber coach and person has been an experience of a lifetime. While we won over 500 games, played in 12 NCAA tournaments, won 4 Regionals, 10 Conference championships and made 2 College World Series appearances, the thing I will remember most is the relationships with the student-athletes and coaches.  The Shenandoah University Baseball Program is truly something special."

"Shenandoah University Athletics and the baseball program thank Coach Cameron for his commitment and the significant impact he made over his 17 seasons with the Hornets," said Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs and Director of Athletics DeShon Foxx.
