Davis Posts 20 Rebound Double-Double in Men's Basketball's Fourth Straight Win

WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University men's basketball team won its fourth straight game with an 87-68 win at home versus Randolph College on Saturday in an ODAC clash.

Senior Dorian Davis is now tied for third all-time for the Hornets (11-8, 4-6 ODAC) in single-game rebounds, as he collected 20 boards in an 18-point double-double. It was a team effort in the win over the WildCats (4-15, 0-10) as Davis, John Allen, Andrew Ford, Ellis Wright, and Isaiah Lee found themselves in double-digit scoring.

RECAP

Shenandoah scored on three of its first four possessions, grabbing a 7-0 lead behind five points from Davis. By the first media timeout, Randolph only trailed by one, 9-8.

Lee and Ford chipped in their first points of the afternoon to get the lead up to eight for the Hornets, as Davis put the Hornets up by 10 halfway through the opening half. However, Randolph quickly chipped away at its deficit to once again only trail by one with seven minutes left.

The WildCats were able to grab a two-point advantage with roughly five minutes left in the first, but immediately on the other end of the court, Davis answered with a three-pointer to give the lead back to SU, 35-34.

Late in the half, Randolph equalized the game at 39 before Allen and Lee gave SU a slim lead at halftime, 43-41.

Allen scored the first point of the second half, and Randolph went down and hit a three-pointer to tie the contest at 44. The Hornets went back up by five, and Randolph answered with a 9-0 run for a four-point lead with 13:51 left.

The Hornets didn't let the WildCats run to bother them as Lee gave Shenandoah a one-point lead, and Ford added three points to cap off an 8-0 SU run. Randolph kept it a one-possession game for the next few minutes until Ford made one of his four three-pointers to give SU a 67-61 lead.

The lead finally reached double-digits again for the home team off a three-pointer by Davis. SU's lead stayed above 10 points for the final five minutes of the game, with the team closing the game out on a 9-2 run across the final three minutes.

The Hornets had 17 second-chance points thanks to 13 offensive rebounds. Overall, SU held a 46-26 advantage on rebounds.

Samuel Dailey, Landon Russ, Allen, and Davis each had three assists, with SU having 15 helpers as a team.
