COLORADO SPRINGS - The Shenandoah University field hockey team ranked third in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association National Team Academic Award for Division III with a team GPA of 3.84.

The Hornets are ranked in the top three of the award for the second consecutive year, after topping the list last year. This year, across all of the NCAA, the Hornets are fourth overall in team GPA.

Shenandoah had 24 student-athletes named to the NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad, which recognizes players with a 3.50 GPA or higher. Of those 24 honorees, 14 were named Scholars of Distinction for having a 3.90 GPA or higher. Madison Short and Mackenzie Watkins earned Scholars of Distinction for the fourth consecutive year.

The Hornets' 3.84 team GPA led SU's athletics department in the fall.
