Men's Basketball Defeated by EMU in Road Finale

HARRISONBURG, Va. - The Shenandoah University men's basketball team lost its final road game of the season 73-61 in an ODAC contest versus Eastern Mennonite University.

Trailing by a slim margin, the Hornets (11-13, 4-11 ODAC) were held to two field goals in the final four minutes, allowing the Royals (8-16, 5-11) to pull ahead by double-digits and lock down the win.

Landon Russ made an early three-pointer for SU's first basket of the evening, but over the next six minutes of play, EMU built a 14-3 lead. The Royals continued to add on to their lead with a 27-12 advantage with under nine minutes to play in the first.

Another three-pointer by Russ, along with a jumper from Samuel Dailey, helped SU cut its deficit down to single-digits in the final five minutes of the half. Dorian Davis added a three-pointer of his own in the final 30 seconds to bring SU within five as EMU led 34-29 at halftime.

Early in the second half, John Allen and Ellis Wright scored to make it a three-point game on multiple occasions. The Hornets worked to keep the deficit at single-digits throughout the next ten minutes, with Wright nailing a three-pointer to make 60-55 in favor of EMU with 4:08 remaining.

EMU went on a 13-6 run during the final four minutes, holding SU to just two field goals during that time to win.

Wright led all players with 24 points. Russ added 16 points for his fourth double-digit performance of the season.

The Hornets conclude their season this Saturday with an ODAC game at home versus Guilford at 2 p.m.
