Wright Drops 37 Points in Men's Basketball's Season Finale Win

WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University men's basketball team celebrated senior day and concluded its 2025-26 season with a 78-72 win over Guilford College at home on Saturday afternoon.

The Hornets (12-13, 5-11 ODAC) were led by 37 points from Ellis Wright, which is the third-best performance by an ODAC player this season. Senior Dorian Davis recorded a 17-point, 10-rebound double-double versus the Quakers (13-12, 7-9).

RECAP

Guilford grabbed a 10-point lead early on, 15-5, but with 11:33 remaining, Shenandoah took the lead thanks to a 12- run that was capped off by a three-pointer from Wright. Guilford responded with a 6-0 run to take the lead right back.

Trailing 24-19, Shenandoah used two more three-pointers from Wright plus a layup from Davis to regain the advantage. The teams traded leads over the next few minutes, with SU ending the half up by four after buckets from Seth Sanusi and Davis in the final minute.

Guilford outscored Shenandoah by nine across the first nine minutes of play in the second half to take a five-point lead, 56-51. Davis and John Allen cut Shenandoah's deficit down to one before another Wright three-pointer gave them the lead with just under 10 minutes remaining.

Despite having the lead, Shenandoah's lead was given back to the Quakers once again, with the teams ending up in a 71-71 tie with 2:37 left on the clock. Across that final 2:37, SU outscored GC 7-1 to win the game. Shenandoah's defense held Guilford to just one successful field goal in the final six minutes.
