The Hornets responded there soon after with an RBI single by Jaime Padilla and a three-run home run that went over the scoreboard in left field by Tyler Smith. Shenandoah led 4-3 at the end of the first.

Andrew Gload entered the game for the Hornets to pitch in the first inning and went three full innings with five strikeouts. The five punch outs ties a career-high from 2024.

Nick Bell (1-0) went to the mound in the fourth inning for Shenandoah and all 11 batters he faced, striking out four to pick up the win. While Bell was on the bump, the Hornets added to their lead.

In the bottom of the fourth, Kyle Garrett hit a two out double to right field that scored Carl Keenan and Matthew Atchley. Then in the sixth, SU added four more runs to make it 10-3. Kemper Omps scored on a Padilla RBI single, before Padilla came around to score on a single from Smith. With two outs in the sixth, Dominic D'Ottavio hit a two-run home run to right field to conclude the scoring in the inning.

The Blazers added two runs in the top of the eighth, cutting their deficit down to five. The Hornets added to their run total with back-to-back home runs in the bottom of the inning. First, Smith smashed his second of the day which scored Padilla. Then Zeek Matthews made his first-ever plate appearance and hit a solo home run on the first pitch he saw. Matthews' home run had a 110 mph exit velocity off the bat.

Smith reached base all five times he stepped up to the plate with three hits and two walks. He finished the afternoon with six RBI. Garrett, Padilla, and D'Ottavio joined Smith with a multi-RBI showing.
